The Paper 2 whole-number questions are about comparing two things that are linked. When two people start with the same amount and end with different amounts, the difference in what is left is exactly the difference in what was used. When there are 7 more of one coin than the other, set the extras aside first, and the rest pairs up evenly. When both people buy (or give away) the same number, the gap between them never changes, so it is the gap you divide into units. And when tickets come in bundles, the least amount comes from using the bundle that saves the most first. In every one of these, write down what stays the same before you calculate anything.
